I’ve been wanting to mention this for a while, but I’ve gotten to the point that my webcomic is becoming more and more… just, not fun to draw anymore. And I know not a lot of people are following it either, it started off as practice and I never advertised it a lot. If anything, I may be putting it on an indefinite hiatus, or I may recycle the characters into something new.

Anyhoo, I wanted to hear your guys’ opinions on this. Should I try to continue Flint and Steal, or put it on hiatus and (maybe) start something entirely new?
autumnotopia said: I think maybe part of the problem is it doesn’t seem like you’re pushing yourself very much with it? Like you mentioned that the Doom blog’s asks keep it new and exciting, but with your comic it seems like maybe you’ve kind of found an artistic comfort zone. Which is alright, but may contribute to you not feeling very energized or excited about it. I think with either it or the new project it may help if you try to do more things that are alien to you

jdaiv said: Have you stepped back and analysed why it’s not fun? The comic certainly shifted into a slower pace and more serious tone over the last few months. Maybe that’s ruined your groove? Or maybe it just doesn’t generate enough positive feedback, as compared to other work. I always try to determine why something has ceased to be fun or interesting. It allows me to review my other projects and see if there’s a risk of the same thing happening elsewhere.

nnononoo look. You need to rest it out and go either try new stuff or look at other stuff. Great things are made with patience and a steady mind. Find inspiration elsewhere and come back. shadowthshapeshifter said: I say do what makes you happy. Things like these shouldn’t be draining, FOLLOW YOUR MEMES… I-I MEAN DREAMS!
